WidgetBucks is a new hyped money-maker which everyone is talking about and trying on their blogs. But, I’ve yet to see widgetbucks on any blog with decent reader-numbers. Why? Because I belive that there are so better programs out there. In fact, WidgetBucks is nothing more then a bad copy of AuctionAds, which even ShoeMoney is writing today.
He is right. WidgetBucks is crap. Despite its easy-inclusion in Wordpress blogs - its a widget - I don’t recommend it. Use AuctionAds instead.
WidgetBucks kills your webserver, thats one thing. Incredibly slow loading times. Another thing is that the widget is unbelivably ugly. If you place WidgetBucks on your blog, you are likely to lose a lot of readers just because readers hates to wait for ads to display.
I don’t use either of these programs. I dont have a readerbase where products from eBay would earn me any referals. If I had a blog about cameras or mobile phones or something like that - I would certainly give AuctionAds a try. But WidgetBucks? Never.
As bloggers trying to please our readers we have a job to do. The number one job is not to irritate our readers. Ads do that, but we got to have a few just to cover our hosting and things like that, and then we must do it in the most effective and least irritating way.
I’ve just removed Adsense from my blog. I run inlinks from Text-Link Ads, and some links from TNX.net in the right sidebar. Thats all, actually. The result is of course that my blog loads incredibly quickly for readers, and the content is presented to them with irritating ads all over the place.
You should try to do the same. At least; get rid of WidgetBucks. The world doesn’t need it.
