BlogReview: Bza.no

Posted on 5 October, 2007 by Peterandrej

Bza.no is a Norwegian weblog mainly about web development, but you’ll also find some movie reviews and posts about pretty much everything. The reason why I’m writing this BlogReview about Bza.no is mainly the design of the weblog - which of course is powered by Wordpress. I don’t focus on content in my reviews, so it doesn’t really matter that the language of the blog is Norwegian. I’m after the design and the code. That’s it.

Design:
Bza is one of the few one-column weblogs out there. That makes it special. And this one-column-solution is one of the best I’ve ever seen- the pure simplicity of the design makes it really stand out from the crowd. Here you’ll not find Recent readers from MyBlogLog, you’ll not find any Blogrush or any other gizmos which steal focus from the content. You won’t find anything else here then content, content, content. All wrapped in nice colors. White and light green. That’s it.

The only links for navigating this weblog is placed in the footer. Here you’ll find a link to the Archive page. And of course a link to the rss-feed. Nothing else.

Code:
Bza is one of the very few weblogs out there which validates after the HTML 4.01 Strict- Standard. The CSS validates as well, which one could expect. The feed doesn’t validate, but who cares really.

Marketing/Success/Potensial:
Website Score Tool provides these numbers for the site:

Section bza.no
Website Grade 83
Google Page Rank 5
Alexa Rank 2,870,550
Technorati Rank 280,190
Google Inbound Links 64
Yahoo Inbound Links N/A
Delicious Saved Count 11
Google Indexed Pages 281

This is not bad at all actually, even tough the numbers don’t look that impressive at first. You must remember that this is a norwegian weblog written for an Norwegian audience. Norway is a small country. You can’t expect Bza to be in the Techorati top 100 or something like that. It’s impossible to reach such positions for a norwegian weblog. Bza’s numbers are very strong to be a norwegian weblog, no question about it.

Summary:
If you can read Norwegian you should visit bza. Some of the articles on CSS is extremely good. If you can’t read Norwegian, you should visit the blog after all - to look at the design.
