The following is a paid review:
I’m not a very good poker player, if I’m being honest. I tend to lose hands then I win. I don’t really know why, but that is perhaps the main reason to why I’m not a very good poker player in the first place. However, I really would like to beat the guys the next time we meet up for our weekly clash in Texas Hold’em.
So, I turn to Poker Forums: namely Cardschat.com, which is an independent poker forum dedicated to the discussion of online poker games, strategy and hand analysis. Just what I need, right?
My first impression of the site is this: It looks like a standard forum. Lots of affiliate-links, but that is expected in a site like this. And, the threads seems well filled with content. Looks promising.
I turn to a thread called “Hands and flops that ruin your bankroll”, hoping for some answers to why I lose all the time. Did I get some? No. Why? Well, look at the thread:
“The overpair. I have JJ in late position and raise and have two callers. The first to act bets, the next one reraises and triples the bet. Now what do you do? You have top pair beat but with all that action you still only have one pair. This is one of those way ahead or way behind type situations. Either way you are going to have to invest alot to find out.”
First, I don’t have a clue of what a “overpair” is. Next, I’m not into the “poker-language”. I know what a pair is, but a “overpair”?
And this is my main impression of the entire site; it is why to complicated for people who doesn’t play poker every day. I guess you almost have to by a professional player to really understand every topic on the site. It is way to complicated for me, but I’m not that a good player after all.
So, in conclusion: Poker Forums are great for people who are really, really, really into poker, who play it every day, and who hope to be a professional player at a Casino in Vegas some day. For those people these Poker Forums of course help greatly in improving own skills and developing great tactics in tournaments both live and online.
Because the site is filled with useful content. It features:
- Poker Forum with over 20,000 members.
- blog
- in-depth strategy articles
- reviews and regular poker discussion
But it is not that useful to me, who really don’t care all that much about poker..
